Not only were they prompt and efficient, but they also cleaned up the job site and asked me to inspect it before they left. I have not dealt with a more courteous and polite crew. Creation Appreciation Landscaping 540-456-6196

This summer we looked at several recent installations of stonework patios around Wintergreen before turning to Creation Appreciation (540-456-6196) to put in a bluestone patio in our front yard. It was the right decision. The attention to detail was excellent, but more impressive was how when the plan went a bit sideways the management and crew handled the problems with ease. We can highly recommend Creation Appreciation (540-456-6196) who worked with us on a hardscape design that included an apron at the front of our stone driveway, a stone walkway along the front of our house, and the repair and improvement of paver steps and walkway on the side and in the back of our house. The project took over 3 weeks. The crew who performed the work was extremely skilled and meticulous in the placement of every single stone and paver. At the end of each day, they stored their tools and equipment and made sure all trash and debris were removed. Chris Kell worked closely with his team and checked in with us almost daily. It was almost magical how the crew from Creation Appreciation (540-456-6196) convinced the tree that the heavy snow brought slowly down on our house to fly up and away with zero additional damage to the rhododendron under it, not to mention our house. It's wasn't magic, but instead skillful roping and tactical cutting on our steep roof to remove the weight of the tree's limbs so that leverage shifted, allowing the roped tree to lift itself up and swing harmlessly away from the house into the yard. It was hilarious. The crew then ran the entire tree and all of our downed limbs into their huge shredder and cleaned up the area with leafblowers. The bill for this expertise was very reasonable. Creation Appreciation Landscaping (540-456-6196) did a great job on re-graveling our driveway. They came within two days when called for an estimate. Adam gave us a very reasonable estimate and suggested some things about the driveway. Took what we wanted and we came to an agreement. Then, within a week, we have a new driveway. I highly recommend Jeremy Parker and Creation Appreciation for all kinds of landscape work. We have worked with Jeremy for over 10 years and couldn’t be more pleased, He helps us with grass seeding and maintenance, all but the most ginormous of our tree work, big planting jobs, and big mulching jobs. His crew has moved several very large shrubs halfway across the yard and they relocated happily. They have built stone steps and stone walls and have solved drainage problems. The landscaper installed a gravel walkway on our mountain house that looked great and remains maintenance-free. They have taken down trees for us, trimmed limbs from trees in awkward high spots, and they have been our source of high-quality firewood for several years. I have to recommend Little Man Landscaping (434-509-7618, text or leave a message) following their leaf-blowing and mulching work on my property last week. I called them based on other recommendations for them on the WTG Bulletin website. I have to say that from the on-time arrival at 8:30 am to the organized and industrious work getting rid of a large quantity of leaves buried among thick groundcover, and the distribution of mulch exactly as I specified was done perfectly by Manual Lopez and his professional team. We emailed Manuel Lopez last week about cleaning out our gutters and he responded within hours. He came out at the appointed time and gave us a very good estimate and showed up the next week as he said he would. Two men worked all around our house, carefully moving around our mature shrubs and new plantings. They left everything better than they found it. If you're looking for someone to install a whole-house generator, we can recommend Never Dark Whole House Generators (434-975-3275) out of Charlottesville. We placed the order in mid-July and they finished the installation of a Briggs & Stratton last week. This was an upgrade from our rusting 2004 Generac, requiring the placement of new lines and coordination with CVEC and Nelson County. Big O Tree and Lawn Service - 540-337-4588

• On August 31 Big O Tree and Lawn Service (540-337-4588) removed two large oak trees that were in danger of falling on the street in front of my Wintergreen mountain home. They were joined together and rotten at the base. The three-man crew arrived on time with a surprising amount of equipment. They developed a plan and worked together like a well–oiled machine, completing the job in four hours. They cut up the best sections into 15-17-inch logs to fit my woodstove (the logs still need splitting). Cleanup along the street was done to perfection. The price was $2,350. I was in a crisis. I ordered a new refrigerator and it didn’t fit. The granite countertop needed to be trimmed. I called Doug Brooks, Sr. (540-448-1493). Central Virginia Residential Services (540-874-2877) just renovated the outdated yellow bathroom in our condo. First, Charles Grandstaff reviewed pictures and discussed possibilities over the phone. I was impressed with his professionalism and detailed recommendations, so we arranged a meeting in person. He took his time discussing ideas, then promptly returned a detailed estimate and contract via email. He listened to my ideas, offered adaptations, and offered ideas that I hadn’t thought of, and finally incorporated all of this into the final project. I appreciated his patience and flexibility and how he returned, in the end, to be sure every detail was complete. We trusted him enough to do the renovation while we were away for two weeks. We had our pool table repaired by Doug Carter out of Lynchburg (434-401-3212). He and his brothers did fantastic work repairing the table rails, leveling the table, and replacing the cloth. Doug charges by the job, plus $200 travel time for the round trip to the top of the mountain; we found that given few pool table repair people around it was worth it. We were happy with the work. White Glove Cleaning - 434-987-6449

We’d like to reaffirm an earlier Wintergreen Bulletin Board recommendation for Crystal Allen and White Glove Cleaning. With an upcoming surgery and a visit from inspector mom, we opted to hire a deep cleaning service and searched references from the WBB. We settled on White Glove and we must say it was really impressive.  Crystal came to assess and then brought what seemed like an army for a thorough half-day deep cleaning. I swear to goodness that every surface area regardless of orientation was cleaned. The house is spotless, but if a person can "feel" cleanliness then we do. Crystal’s stand-out attributes are dedication to high standards, empathy, and kindness to her staff.
