“Tobacco & Vape + CBD” shops are popping up in formerly empty retail spots everywhere in Virginia. One of the newest ones opened in Nellysford on Sept. 12 in the former furniture and interior design shop next to Nest Reality and across the street from the shopping center.

Called “Threads of Resilience,” the Trillium Gallery’s current show displays painstaking craftsmanship combined with heartfelt imagination. While framed as photographs, oils, or watercolors that are typically on display in the gallery, most of LaVel Rude’s handmade forms in the show are three-dimensional, stitching thread and cloth with natural dyes.

The restaurant in Nellysford on Route 151 is open seven days a week from 7 am to 2 pm.

Nelson County launched a new GIS system in April. It’s the same, but different–and a little better.

Wintergreen mountain’s wastewater plant was reported to beputting “drinking water quality” into Pond Hollow Creek, according to the March 2025 board minutes of the Nelson County Service Authority. The state-of-the-art system using membrane bioreactors that made the high-quality wastewater possible was a long time in coming, and it didn’t come cheap. The groundbreaking for the new $18.5 million plant was in March 2022, but the project began in 2014.

Executive Chief JD Del Rosso says his restaurant can handle these kinds of special requests with 10 days or more advance notice.

Now five years old, Here to Stay in Wintergreen has had tremendous success. The next five years will be telling, however.

In the June 2024 Virginia Congressional 5th District contests, the majority of Nellysford voters voted differently than the majority of Nelson County voters.

“Who killed the Atlantic Coast Pipeline? It depends on who you ask,” the book Gaslight: The Atlantic Coast Pipeline and the Fight for America’s Energy Future says on page 243. One reading from what’s presented is that the ACP would have never worked; it was dead from the get-go. The utility was probably lucky to get out when it did.

The James M. Cowley Community Playground on the west side of the Rockfish Valley Community Center [map] was installed in the spring of 2024. It includes a multi-level climbing and sliding complex, elaborate swing sets, “musical play features” in the shape of flowers, a play tunnel with a bridge, two twisting slides, climbing swings, and–in the middle of it all–comfortable benches under established shade trees for parents, grandparents, and babysitters.

Aqua Virginia received a copy of the Wintergreen Valley Association’s (WVA)  February 29, 2024 email regarding Aqua Virginia’s application to the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) requesting an increase in water and wastewater utility rates. After review of the WVA email, we would like to share the following information:
