I would like to recommend Tyler of Floor Systems (540- 241-0861) for carpet cleaning. He has taken over for Don Land who has retired. Tyler did a great job on all the carpeting in our lower level mountain house and stairs. He also does upholstery and area rugs. He is very reasonable and gives you a price after he is done. Danny’s Quality Upholstery (434-293-3506) on Ivy Road did an excellent job for us on dining room chairs. They have no problem using your own fabric unlike some that want to make extra bucks using marked-up samples you can buy online for much less. We recently had a new roof installed on our house, and as a result, would like to highly recommend Roof Top Services in Charlottesville. Everything about the process was seamless with this company which began with a meeting with the project manager who explained the entire process and gave us a printed timeline of the roof replacement process. On replacement day each crew member (there were over 15 of them) had his own personal task to complete. The site manager was present all day and made sure that all safety procedures were followed. I would like to recommend KR Construction (krconstruction02@yahoo.com) for custom carpentry. We used this Faber, Va.-based business in the fall of 2019. They created kitchen cabinets from scratch to fit under our granite countertop. In addition, they created matching doors and drawer fronts for the rest of our cabinets. I would like to recommend Russ Anderson for woodwork of all types. His specialty is custom cabinetry, but if any project involves woodworking, give him a call. We had an outdoor tabletop that was falling apart; he created a lovely new one of marine grade wood. We needed some kitchen cabinets built to exactly match existing cabinets; he did a fabulous job. He knows everything about kitchen cabinetry and made recommendations for improvements that we didn't even know existed. We crawled through the attic trying to find the source of a roof leak in our kitchen ceiling with no success. Friends and WBB subscribers recommended Cenvar Roofing and Solar (434-329-7561). Cenvar Roofing of Charlottesville came out and replaced two older vent flashings that appeared to have a small leak. Service was quick and the price was reasonable. Cenvar Roofing out of Lynchburg (434-841-8898) did a great job for us. We had called three other roofers to give us estimates and none showed up. We called and they were here the next day. The estimate was good and they used great materials. They got us on the schedule and showed up when they said they would. Worked from 8-8 and we now have a beautiful new roof. We had our first experience with Lotts Appliance repair service (540-337-3445) and were pleased. The Stuarts Draft-based service came out just a day after we called about our refrigerator's recalcitrant ice maker and "a funny noise" in the top. They rapidly diagnosed both issues on their first visit. Their second visit to put the parts in place took only minutes. They arrived on time and the bill was reasonable. I would like to recommend Christina Chaplin for home cleaning services. We inherited Christina when we purchased our house in Stoney Creek two years ago. She is a hard worker, professional, diligent, brings her own supplies and does a great job. She has solved all the special cleaning issues we have run into. She will use the type of cleaners you request and steam mops my tile floors. I trust her with a key to my house and she comes in when we are away. She also does special cleaning projects for me. Christina has been handling cleaning turn over for rental properties at Wintergreen but would like to fill in some slots with regular weekly houses. She charges by the job and is competitive. I also like how I can pay her by PayPal on my phone!  Her number is 540-448-7019. We recommend Perry G's Custom painting (434-361-1228). Perry was prompt in returning our call, worked with WPOA's Architectural Review Board to get the paint color approved, and his team arrived on time each day and completed the work in a week. They power-washed the house exterior and deck, repaired rotted framing on the decorative fence, and painted the exterior house and trim. The finish is a well-done hand-brushed and rolled paint job. * If you need someone to clean your windows, I highly recommend Andy Burdetsky who recently cleaned our windows and screens. If the bulletin came with a soundtrack, you'd be listening to "I Can See Clearly Now" as you read this. Andy and his wife Krista worked diligently and stealthily around us and our dogs as if we weren't even in the house. Andy is very conscientious, professionial, reliable and personable. We did have some screens that were on their last leg and discovered that Andy also replaces the mesh on screens; he came back a few weeks later to do just that and the result was awesome.
