The Democrats in the 5th District overall are all in for Perriello, more so in Nelson County, and even more so again in the Nellysford Precinct. Perriello saw 370 more votes in Nelson County than the GOP’s McGuire did in the primary contest on August 3 for the November election for the US House seat.
The Republicans in the 5th District are obviously sticking with incumbent McGuire. The GOP’s candidate got 12,327 more votes in his 5th District primary race than the Democrats’ Perriello saw.
Bert Mizusawa was the clear winner in the GOP primary to decide who will face Democratic incumbent US Senator Mark Warner in November. In Nelson County and in the Nellysford precinct, however, Mizusawa didn’t get a majority of the vote in the three-candidate primary race.
