During our annual fireplace and chimney inspection and cleaning, Doug Parrish of Augusta Chimney Sweeps (540-885-3244) recommended we purchase a 1/4-inch thick steel plate (24 inches wide and 16 inches high) and lean it against the back of our fireplace chamber to increase the heating efficiency of our wood-burning fireplace. He recommended C & C Welding Service in Waynesboro (540-949-8061) to fabricate the plate.
